Welcome to the UK Stroke Forum

Dear Colleagues

As Chairman and a founder member of the UK Stroke Forum, I am delighted to be working with the Steering Group and Scientific Conference Committee to develop the 2008 conference programme.

In 2007 we hosted over 1,200 delegates who experienced a varied and stimulating event which evaluated extremely well. After listening to your encouraging comments and ideas for future events our team of experts in the stroke field have developed a programme which we hope will meet the needs of the modern multidisciplinary team.

We still have much work to do in terms of patients receiving equal levels of stroke care throughout the UK. The UK Stroke Forum was set up with this aim in mind, as it seeks to share best practice and expertise among all the many professional disciplines working in stroke.

The constituent organisations of the UK Stroke Forum have nominated very enthusiastic and passionate individuals to help steer this important development in multidisciplinary stroke education. This conference couldn't happen without the input from these key individuals who all share the same vision. I thank them all for their hard work but most importantly for your support in attending this conference. I hope you actively contribute to the conference and also take away many important messages which can be implemented into your own clinical area.

I look forward to seeing you in Harrogate in December.
