Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland aims to improve the quality of life for people in Scotland affected by chest, heart and stroke illness, through medical research, advice and information, and support in the community.



Services in the field of stroke include:  

  • Campaigning and raising awareness on all issues affecting stroke
  • Research fellowships, project grants, commissioned research and minor
    awards
  • Multi-disciplinary stroke training programmes, conferences and
    seminars, and career development awards for nursing and therapy staff
  • The volunteer stroke service, focusing on support for stroke
    survivors with communication problems
  • Support for local volunteer-led stroke clubs
  • Stroke nurses, supporting people returning home from hospital after a
    stroke, including specialist services for young stroke survivors
  • The Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland nurse-led advice line, and a wide range of patient
    information available in booklet, video and audio tape format
  • Welfare grants and benefits advice

    As a patient organisation, Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland does not offer professional membership but can support healthcare professionals in Scotland by providing training, information and research funding.
