British and Irish Orthoptic Society
The British and Irish Orthoptic Society (BIOS) is a national charity and represents orthoptists in the UK and Eire, many of which are directly and indirectly involved in the care of stroke patients.
Those with specific interest in stroke are members of the BIOS stroke and neuro rehabilitation specialist interest group. This groups aims to:
- Promote best practice in orthoptic diagnosis and management of stroke and head injury patients
- Contribute to vision research in stroke and head injury
- Facilitate the dissemination of information and support
- Host a national orthoptic stroke meeting
- Raise awareness of visual disability following stroke and head injury
