British Aphasiology Society
The British Aphasiology Society (BAS) is a national interest group formed to foster the development of the study of aphasia.
It aims to:
- encourage the dissemination of knowledge of aphasia and its treatment amongst all disciplines concerned with aphasia;
- promote the application of a scientific approach to include qualitative as well as experimental methods to aphasia investigation and its rehabilitation;
- promote the interests of dysphasic people by broadening the knowledge and understanding of dysphasia;
- promote and draw upon the expertise of people with aphasia.
BAS membership is open to all people concerned with the development of knowledge of aphasia and its treatment. The Society organises a number of events including the major conference, the therapy symposium, and work in progress meetings. We can also offer support for aphasia study days. All of these events are open to BAS members only. Members receive the quarterly newsletter, are eligible to apply to attend BAS events, and are eligible to apply for BAS conference support funds.
